The thread under the threads (interpretation)

Document author's reading, not James's. Every thread pairs something alive (community, person, music, research, an agent's judgement) with something mechanical (rules, boundaries, verification, constraint), and asks where the boundary goes.

• Code: deterministic everywhere except where judgement is unavoidable (thread-judgement-in-machines).
• Commons: minimum necessary legibility (thread-transition).
• A person: hold the horizon, let goals serve it (thread-how-people-change).
• An instrument: strong opinions about what it's for (thread-instruments-and-constraint).
• Writing: point, don't prove (thread-witnessing-vs-proof).

He answers it locally and well, and hasn't said it generally. Revised 2026-10-26: he has stated a general claim of his own, the unified-critique (political-economic and perceptual-metaphysical critiques as two sides of one configurational failure), grounded in convergent-signatures. Read this page against it. Whether it is a thread or the thesis is for him to say.
