Alf Hornborg

Human ecologist. Suggested to James and listed in his departure-in-place lineage, but not read by him yet (confirmed 2026-10-26). Cite his views as Hornborg's, not James's (degrowth).

Found in sessions (stated by source): machines displace labour and land onto other places rather than saving them ("machine fetishism"), and AI does the same with "embodied information" (hornborg-marx-machine-2026); his practical lever is money, not tools: a state-issued, radius-limited currency for a basic income (hornborg-gti-money-2017); such currencies stall without local supply (weaver-special-purpose-money-2025).

Steer: run as its own philosophy line, not pressed against hosting economics (steer).

Disposition: stated. Related: ivan-illich, philosophy-of-technology.
