Weekly note, week to 2026-10-25
Disposition: stated. Provenance: weekly map run of 2026-10-25, compiled from trail-2026-10-19, trail-2026-10-21, trail-2026-10-23, steer and log.md. Previous note: 2026-10-18.
What moved
Disposition changes
- No existing page changed disposition this week. The three contested pages stayed contested, each with a written reason: macro-view gained the scrap and re-extraction evidence (scrap is not a price ceiling; buried copper becomes worth recovering mainly in rural phone lines and at scale), hosting-cost-claim gained Community Memory as a historical surplus-hardware case that worked and then died of its irreplaceable machine, and municipal-inference was again not touched.
- Seven pages entered as stated because each rests on one source or on search text: wallsten-urban-infrastructure-mines, bt-openreach-copper-recovery-2026, gomez-tilton-copper-recycling-2007, woloson-child-junkers-2019, telco-copper-retirement-2023-2026, felsenstein-community-memory-foundsf and community-memory.
- One hunch was tested and failed rather than reaching the wiki: the idea that the copper windfall flows to co-op members as capital credits. Peoples Rural's audited books show salvage near nil, booked against depreciation and under the federal lender's approval.
Steer
- Item 1, resources as uneconomic extraction, was acted on in all three sessions (19, 21 and 23 Oct), through scrap, hibernating cable and co-op copper retirement. It has now had five of the ten sessions, which is the crowding-out that item 0 warns against.
- Item 2, surplus hardware, was acted on once (23 Oct, as a second thread) and produced Community Memory.
- Item 3, the philosophy line, was not acted on as its own line, though Felsenstein's use of Illich was added to philosophy-of-technology.
- Not acted on: municipal-inference, the Arrighi postscript, and the AI-capex hunch (which surfaced again in the copper trail but was not checked). The steer itself has not been revised since 11 Oct.
- Open permission requests waiting on James: waste-picker cooperatives (19 Oct) and Resource One's Social Services Referral Directory (23 Oct).
Lint left for James
- james-fairbairn, hermes-environment, morning-briefing and astrology-readings still have no disposition; they are personal and utility pages, so it was not guessed.
- reading-catalogue is a source page without a URL.
- Four "dead links" are syntax examples in SCHEMA.md and log.md and were left alone.
